Hair Worthy of the Red CarpetUK celebrity stylist Nicky Clarke’s line of hair care products was inherited by Procter & Gamble with the purchase of Wella. After the purchase, Dew Gibbons was called upon to redesign the brand identity and packaging. In addition to a new look for the existing portfolio, Nicky Clark has launched Red Carpet Style. The bottles feature a gold foil label with silk screen overlays. The font used for the word “Nicky” was inspired by his signature. The label background incorporates the tint of the red bottle. A richer, darker red was chosen for its premium look and feel. More information: www.dewgibbons.com. |
Happy Hour In the TubHappy hour has moved to the tub. Ooohlala of Beverly Hills is a bubble bath housed martini mixer-shaped container. It makes use of a pink and white PETG shrink sleeve from Ameri-Seal printed using the rotogravure process. PETG film’s shrinkage margin is greater than more traditional PVC film and could accommodate the narrowing neck of the bottle. More information: www.ameri-seal.com. |
Curves for Men’s ProductsThe Gillette Company has introduced shapely aerosol packaging for its MACH3Turbo shaving gel, Gillette Series shaving gel and Gillette Series antiperspirant and deodorant. The 200mL limited edition cans coincide with the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament, for which Gillette is an official sponsor. Designed to resemble a soccer ball, the package is contoured in an easy-to-grip shape. The unusual shape resulted from supplier Crown Holding’s proprietary blowforming process, which begins with preforms placed in precision engineered molds. The preform is then blowformed using high-pressure air, causing it to expand into the shape of the mold. More information: contact Lee Bradley, 44-1623-528432 or Brad Dahlgren, (215) 698-5260. |
Zeller Provides Closure for LuxUnilever has launched a new look for its popular Chinese brand Lux. Zeller worked closely with Unilever to develop a shaped, one-piece flip-top hinge closure. The challenging design required a tapered lid and body with an oval shape contour. The design also required a self-draining system on the top body of the cap to drain residual water residue. Zeller created 200mL and 400mL versions of the Zelsnap hinge closure for Lux shampoo and conditioner. The closures are manufactured in white. According to Zeller, the Lux re-launch in China met with positive consumer response and increased sales. Zeller is a brand owned by Global Closure Systems. More information: www.gcs.com. |

Don’t Mess With Texas PowderAside from being a very cool city, Dallas is Benefit Cosmetic’s name for its new box of powder. The look of the packaging was inspired by the powder inside — a combination of blush and bronzer that reminded its creators of Southern sunsets. The packaging is decorated with brilliant colors — yellows, burnt oranges and rosy plums. The name Dallas is hot stamped in gold for a glamourous feel. A mahogany-stained facial brush comes with the box. More information: www.benefitcosmetics.com. |
