The Fragrance Foundation presented its Indie Awards during a reception on January 28th at the Elements Showcase in New York City. The fragrance, Amber Oud By Kilian, won first place. Four finalists were presented with miniature FiFi awards.
Amber Oud is part of By Kilian's Arabian Nights collection, which was formulated by Givaudan's Calice Becker. It is packaged in the same chic rectangular -- and refillable -- glass bottle that is used for all of By Kilian's fragrances.
A gold metal plaque on the front of the bottle is engraved with the name of the scent, and affixed with
ultraviolet glue. The bottle is housed in an extravagant lockable coffret box.

"We are thrilled to be recognized by the Fragrance Foundation in the Indie category and incredibly honored to receive this award. We would like to thank the entire fragrance industry for its support and encouragement over the past five years and, most importantly, thank Calice Becker, whose hard work and passion helped bring this scent to life.”
The Indie Awards reception was held on the show floor during the first night of Elements Showcase, which is a two-day exhibition that celebrates niche brands. The show took place at Skylight West, on West 36th Street in New York City.
Many representatives from beauty brands, as well as perfumers from around the world, were in attendance - enjoying champagne while waiting for Elizabeth Musmanno, president of the Fragrance Foundation, to announce the Indie Award winners. "Each of the nominees created world-class scents that are well-deserving of our accolades," said Musmanno.

Frederick Bouchardy, Jeff Lawson and Ulrich Lang, founders of the Elements Showcase, were also in attendance. Bouchardy, founder of Joya Studio, said, "We conceived of this award with the Fragrance Foundation two years ago, and we’re happy that it has been building more and more excitement every year."
The Elements Showcase has expanded this year, and a few cosmetic, natural, skincare and nail brands signed on to exhibit among the many fragrance brands. "We wanted to cover other aspects of design in beauty and the apothecary world," said Bouchardy. He is already looking to organize future shows, and added, “We do our best to make Elements a dynamic, valuable and profitable experience for our exhibitors, and we look forward to doing it again--New York City, as well as in Dubai."
