The Capri by Vince Camuto fragrance, manufactured by Parlux Fragrances, evokes images of the Mediterranean Sea — and promises to transport you there with one whiff.
The floral-fruity scent launched at major retailers in January 2016 and is housed in a pretty glass bottle with a translucent Mediterranean blue hue. Its sky-high cap is a striking design element that has become a signature look for the brand.

Inspired By A Mediterranean Breeze
Capri by Vince Camuto is a “cool Mediterranean breeze,” the brand says, which includes: top notes of violet leaves, juicy pear, pink grapefruit; middle notes of red frangipani, peach blossom, and violet flower; and a musk and vanilla base.
Louise Camuto, creative director, Vince Camuto, worked closely with perfumer Richard Herpin of Firmenich to create the signature scent. Herpin describes it, saying, “Thinking of the breathtaking coastal landscape and waters of Capri, Italy, I imagined a woman walking on the beaches of this tiny, yet luxurious island…Her dress dances in the breeze like the uttering petals of the frangipani, peach blossom and violet I put in the fragrance. For the background, I thought of the warmth of sun-kissed skin and built in creamy woods, vanilla and musks.”
A ‘Kiss’ of Blue Reflects Through the Glass
The 100ml glass eau de parfum bottle feels luxurious. Since the pale blue color of the glass is translucent, it makes the juice inside the bottle look almost watery and truly reminiscent of the sea.
The look is achieved by spraying only the base of the glass bottle with a “kiss of color,” according to Louise Camuto. “The fragrance itself is uncolored, but the blue tint from the glass base reflects through the bottle’s five distinct angled edges,” she says.
In contrast with the bottle, the carton is pale pink and decorated with an illustration of a blue flower. Camuto explains: “The striking blue flower possesses the gracefl movemnet of the sighing ocean. The result is simultaneously peaceful and energetic. Vince Camuto’s signature wax seal crest is embossed in silver foil in the center of the flower.”
The Cap Features the Camuto Family Crest
The weighted cap feels substantial, and luxe. It is coated in satin silver, to resemble polished sea glass.
The cap’s intricate design is a larger replica of the brand’s logo, and modeled after the Camuto family crest. The elaborate decoration makes the cap so tall that it needs several extra inches of headroom in the carton.
The team at Parlux paid attention to every detail, including the turquoise grosgrain ribbon tied in a bow, and silver coin-shaped medallion around the bottle’s neck. Each ribbon is affixed to the fragrance bottle’s collar and holds the medallion in place. The medallion is embossed with the Vince Camuto crest.
Sticking To A Consistent Look
The same cap, in different colors, is also used for Vince Camuto’s Bella fragrance, which launched in 2015; Amore, in 2014; Fiore in 2013; and Vince Camuto in 2011. See them in the slideshow above.
Louise Camuto explains, “Capri Vince Camuto is the natural extension of our sister fragrance collections. Each has a distinct appeal and offers women the ultimate accessory to express their individuality.” Camuto adds, “The pentagonal bottle shape spans across the floral collection and has become synonymous with Vince Camuto fragrances.” The only women’s fragrance that isn’t in the same packaging is Vince Camuto Femme, which launched in 2013 in a round bottle.
Donald Loftus, president, Parlux, comments, “The Vince Camuto fragrance business impressively outpaces the industry, attracting new customers and maintaining its loyal fan base of women who have come to love the brand.”
The brand’s mens’ fragrances also sport a consistent image - bold rectangular bottles, wrapped in rich colored leathers, adorned with the signature wax seal crest. The men’s collection includes Vince Camuto for Men in a black bottle, which launched in 2012; followed by the blue Homme in 2014; and orange Solare in 2015. This spring, Vince Camuto Eterno for Men launched in a bottle wrapped in white leather. “It reflects the effortless elegance of the Camuto man,” the brand states. The woody aromatic fragrance was inspired by “the modern day gentleman.”
