Gabriel Hernandez’s passion for cinema, art, history and culture led to a fascination with vintage package design, which in turn inspired her creation of Bésame Cosmetics.
“Our packaging design captures the whimsy of decades past, but our products are sophisticated and wearable for today’s woman,” she says. Bésame products have been featured in many award-winning TV series and motion pictures, including Mad Men, American Horror Story, Feud, The Artist and Marvel’s Agent Carter.
Hernandez says: "At Bésame Cosmetics we honor the past by creating cosmetics that have been passionately researched and crafted with the utmost care and consideration in the United States. We recreate colors and packaging from decades gone by, inspired by their attention to detail and the belief that classic glamour is always in style.”
Designed To Celebrate 80 Years: 1937 Snow White Collection
To celebrate Snow White’s 80th anniversary, Hernandez says they were entrusted by Disney to build a collection that honored their commitment to detail in creating this beloved film.
“In developing “Disney Snow White — The 1937 Collection,” we were granted special access to the Disney archives to see for the first time the exact paint colors used for animating the iconic princess in 1937,” she explains.
Each color was painstakingly hand selected and matched from the original paints and brought to life in their beautiful palette. Original color names given by the Ink and Paint Department were used to provide a glimpse of the history behind this iconic film. “We have been truly honored to bring this collection to life and show you the truly timeless colors of the original Snow White,” says Hernandez.
“We create real-time makeup that women can enjoy every day,” says Hernandez. “This collection is no exception. The 1937 Snow White Red lipstick flatters just about every skin tone, and other colors in the set, like Rose 300 and Cocoa 103 shadows for the eyelids, are neutrals that become an immediate go-to for a fresh, but finished look.”
