For his latest fragrance bottle design, for Mod Noir ($70-$90), Marc Jacobs has steered away from the quirkiness of past insect-inspired designs and focused on the graphics themselves. Described as “a chic juxtaposition of classic simplicity and contemporary sophistication,” the bottle expresses Jacobs’ love of bold elements in a clean and striking linear design, contrasted with the bottle’s rounded shape. The shiny lacquer contrasts nicely with the polished finish. The oversized sphere-shaped bottle is housed in a contemporary deluxe carton. The fragrance is a blend of greens, gardenias and creamy musks, created by perfumer Jean-Claude Delville. Sold exclusively at Marc Jacobs boutiques and Sephora, the design also duplicates the retailer’s signature colors (or lack thereof).
