The sixth edition of MakeUp in NewYork will take place September 7-8 at Center 548, at 548 W. 22nd Street in Manhattan, which is where it was held in 2013 and 2014.
Sandra Maguarian, the show’s co-manager with Jean-Yves Bourgeois, says they are thrilled to be back at the Chelsea location. “It’s a challenge to find a large enough venue in Manhattan,” explains Maguarian.
Center 548 now has an additional 4,300 sq.ft. of space, since two art galleries moved out of the building. Last year, the show was at Penn Plaza in a less-than-ideal space, before discussions began about holding it at Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn.
Bigger Than Ever
MakeUp in NewYork expects more than 3,000 visitors, from all areas of the beauty industry. There will be more than 100 exhibitors, including formulators, packaging suppliers and contract manufacturers—and approximately 30 companies will be exhibiting for the first time.
Some of the suppliers at the show include Albéa, Anomatic, b.kolor, Baosheng, Baralan, Cosmetica, Faber-Castell, Geka, HCT Group, iTiT Cosmetics, Livcer, Lumson, Mascara Plus, Pennellifaro, Roberts Cosmetic Containers, SeaCliff Beauty, Verla International, Weckerle Cosmetics, Yonwoo and many more.
The companies exhibiting for the first time include: Asadal Beauty, Classic Cosmetics, CTL Packaging, Italcosmetici, Kolmar, Libo Cosmetics, Soho Cosmetic Accessories, Texen and Yuga Plastic.
The show opens on Wednesday, September 7, with the keynote presentation, “State of the U.S. Beauty Industry” by Kissura Mondesir, director/analyst, NPD, 10:15 am - 11 am. Next, Maybelline New York’s senior vice president of global marketing Trisha Ayyagari will present, “Maybelline, An American Success Story,” 11:00 - 11:30 am. Ayyagari will discuss the evolution of the cosmetics industry, and the brand’s expectations from its suppliers.
