Just over two years ago, following their instinct, two brothers, Alessandro and Federico Prestini of Premi SPA, an Italian company based in Gessate near Milan, began producing packaging for the beauty sector and quickly expanded to a 5,500 m² area dedicated to product development and offices. In 2017, the company achieved a turnover of € 41 million, with a staff of 90 and expediential growth in 2018. Additionally, the company has a strong presence in terms of development, production and sales in Los Angeles, Poland and Taiwan.
Jean-Yves Bourgeois: Your company has done remarkably well in just three years!
Federico Prestini: It’s true, we are extremely satisfied! Our business model works well, quite well actually. Let me remind you of our main focus: Premi is a company specialized in the production and development of standard and custom packaging solutions for the beauty industry. Our mission is to create innovative, high quality and exclusive beauty products for skincare, fragrance, home fragrance and makeup markets. From concept design to turnkey products, we offer our clients a 360° knowledge with a reliable team of specialists at every step of the project development process. Each of our clients has the possibility to manage their own project as they wish (single component, decoration, complete package and full-service option).
Additionally, our product catalog offers a wide selection of trend-setting components, designed by our 10-member creative team.
Jean-Yves Bourgeois: Another plus, and not the least, your finishing workshop and the comprehensive range of technologies you offer.
Federico Prestini: Alongside traditional techniques, such as coloring, hot stamping, screen printing, pad printing, coating, metallization just to name a few… we can also provide a unique and exclusive decoration process in a very short timeframe. Among these techniques, is 3D inkjet, which has proven to be a big success as it offers different options for packaging customization in terms of shapes, styles, colors. By using high-definition images and focusing special attention on the details, customers have the possibility to launch new products while saving time and money.
Jean-Yves Bourgeois: The makeup packaging sector has developed a lot in recent years!
Federico Prestini: Today it accounts for one-third of our business, same as the perfume and skincare sectors, while two years ago we had no presence in these markets.
Jean-Yves Bourgeois: You are also behind Stocksmetic. Can you tell us more?
Federico Prestini: Stocksmetic was originally created as a division of Premi; however, due to our success and a high demand from smaller brands to purchase lower quantity items, this division has emerged into a new company acting in part as Premi’s official distributor.
Premi’s main focus is on personalized and custom packaging and working on brand development and production, while Stocksmetic focuses on low minimum on-hand inventory.
