L'Oreal USA has started the 2015 application period for its For Women in Science fellowship program. The program recognizes and rewards the contributions women make in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields and identifies exceptional women researchers committed to serving as role models for younger generations.
Five U.S.-based women will receive a fellowship grant up to $60,000 each for their postdoctoral research through the program. Applications are on L’Oreal’s website, and the application period ends March 20th, 2015. Candidates should have exceptional academic records and intellectual merit, clearly articulated research proposals with the potential for scientific advancement and outstanding letters of recommendation from advisers.
Lauren Paige, Vice President Public Affairs & Strategic Initiatives at L'Oreal USA, said:
"Our Research and Innovation division employs more than 4,000 people around the world and 70 percent of them are women. From research and manufacturing to finance and marketing, L'Oreal relies on the contributions women make in the STEM fields throughout our entire company."
Dr. Katie Brenner, 2014 For Women in Science fellow, commented:
"The L'Oreal USA For Women in Science fellowship made a huge difference at a critical moment in my research. The funding allowed me to complete a set of experiments that might otherwise have been impossible and the networking opportunities that L'Oreal provided led me to form a new collaboration with researchers across the country."
