There's a Change.org petition being shared online - and MAC Cosmetics is being signaled out. Fans of the late Mexican American singer / actress want to see MAC Cosmetics produce a limited edition Viva Glam collection inspired by Selena - and they especially want to see her signature red lip color as part of the line (which was Chanel's Brick, by the way).
The petition went live on Valentine's Day, with the goal of collecting 5,000 signatures - it's now up to nearly 20,000 supporters.
So why was MAC's Viva Glam collection signaled out? The campaign supports the MAC AIDS Fund, and its famous spokespersons/style inspirations have been numerous, including everyone from MIley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj (whose Pink Friday color was a best seller for the brand), to the drag queen supermodel RuPaul. But to date, the campaign's only Latina celeb has been Ricky Martin.
A mock up of Selena-inspired packaging, featuring a drawing of Selena's face placed on a MAC lipstick and blush compact, are being shared on Instagram. The petition states it was created by "Selena Quintanilla Fans,” and is being promoted through social media with the hashtag: #SELENAQUINTANILLAforMAC.
Check out Miley Cyrus' Viva Glam lip color that launched last month.
