It's like crowd-sourcing product development, as Selena fans recently petitioned MAC Cosmetics - and the brand might be listening.
Diehard fans of Selena Quintanilla, the Latina pop star born in Texas who was tragically killed by the president of her fan club at the age of 24, recently petitioned MAC Cosmetics to create a lipstick named after her - complete with packaging that features her image. Jennifer Lopez starred in the movie about her life, and JLO will perform a musical tribute at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, airing on Telemundo on April 30th, 2015.
MAC Cosmetics may have decided to listen to the 30,000+ signatures the petition received - is a Selena lipstick in development?
Rumors are circulating that the brand recently approached Selena's sister, Suzette, to collaborate on the project. The update has been added to the petition on change.org.
MAC released this statement, back in February, which doesn't confirm, nor deny, the news: “The loyalty and enthusiasm of Selena’s fans are clearly evident and we love this. M·A·C admires the passion and joy Selena brought to the world. She was an amazing person with amazing talent. We consider all types of feedback like this as we plan our collaborations.”
