The Kardashians and Jenners are killing it in the digital world. The industry is buzzing about the success of their Apps, which just launched 3 days ago - and experts say they could make $32 million this year due to in-app purchases.
Within just 24 hours, the apps have been downloaded 900,000 times, reported the Daily Mail. But it's the KYLIE app, which focuses on beauty, that has scored the #1 spot in Apple's iTunes store for Most Downloaded App, across all categories.
Whalerock Industries, based in Santa Monica, created the individual apps and websites for each of the sisters - Kim Kardashian West, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner, with Kourtney Kardashian's launching soon.
They include makeup tutorials, style tips, video diaries, live streams, workout routines, plus more. The apps are free to download, but then a $2.99 subscription fee unlocks premium content.
One Major Benefit for a Brand - Or is it Censoring?
The entire crew was at a "Meet The Developers" event on Monday at the Apple store in Soho, New York City, to promote the apps. One point they made was how the apps allow each - and all brands - to filter out negative comments from critics.
Kim said, "Hopefully we can try to come up with comment control or something that would make it a happy, uplifting place and not a negative place..." Khloé added, “We want to hear from fans, but we want to start changing the way of social media and have it be from all positives.”
