Plackers has given its portable, one-handed flossers a new look. New packaging features an "energetic" style, which is also reflected in its newly designed website.
The new logo is shown above, in the screenshot from the brand's YouTube video where it is "kicking" the old font out of view -- before confetti falls from the sky. The colorful "confetti" represents all the things that get stuck between teeth.
The new brand message is emphasizes that "using Plackers flossers can empower anyone to give their all."
Sarah Moeggenberg, Global Brand Manager for Plackers, explains, "The challenge is that flossing tends to be a taboo activity that is only done in the bathroom or in private. Our new brand message is about feeling free to floss anywhere, anytime."
A New Look, Based on Research
The new look swaps a "clinical and lackluster approach," the brand states, for a "bolder, more imaginative take on flossing." A fresh color palette and playful images were chosen to "capture the freeing feeling of removing pesky pieces that can pile up between teeth after eating," according to the brand.
The design choices were based on research. "Our consumer research showed that most people aren't flossing for the health benefits," says Moeggenberg. "The majority of consumers use flossers to get the annoying gunk out of their teeth."
As the initial step of the brand rollout, Plackers redesigned its website. New packaging is expected to be phased in at major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Kroger, and Walgreens over the next year.
