Billie, a new start-up razor subscription service for women, has closed a $6 million seed round, Tech Crunch reports. The funding was led by Silverton Partners, with participation from returning investors including Female Founders Fund and Lakehouse Ventures, and will be used to grow Billie’s team and increase inventory.
Billie offers razors, shave cream, body lotion and body wash. The company says it is enidng the "pink tax." Billie's website explains:
"Ah, the pink tax: that extra amount women are charged for certain products or services, for no good reason. You see it with fashion, dry cleaning and personal care. And you see it with razors. We’re strongly against the pink tax. That’s why our razors aren’t just half the price of women’s shaving brands, they’re priced in line with men’s razor subscriptions. Drop the pink tax. Pick up Billie."
Billie's razors are made with five blades, with an aloe strip and rounded edges. The brand's bath & body products are cruelty-free, and don't contain parabens, sulfates, or synthetic fragrance.
