Kourtney Kardashian appeared in Washington, D.C. and stood before Congress in a stylish black suit and cropped white t-shirt, to help the Environmental Working Group (EWG) lobby for stricter cosmetics regulations. 

Kardashian helped EWG's team brief staffers of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on the Personal Care Products Safety Act, introduced last year by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) and sponsored by Susan Collins (R-Maine).

The Personal Care Products Safety Act aims to protect consumers' health and create uniform safety rules for companies by strengthening the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) authority to regulate the ingredients in personal care products.

Senator Tammy Baldwin thanked Kardashian on Twitter, saying, "I’m working to make sure there are better protections from toxic chemicals in cosmetic products. Thanks @KourtneyKardash and @ewg for your advocacy and for bringing awareness to #BeautyMadeBetter." (They are pictured above.)

#BeautyMadeBetter is a new initiative started by EWG. EWG is a non-profit organization led by Ken Cook.

According to People, Kardashian said at the briefing, "When I had my first son, I started really learning so much about the foods that I was feeding him and it just kind of all snowballed. As a mom, you really take so much interest in the products… and it's so crazy. I was thinking about it this morning. I would get so many baby gifts and a lot of it were products, skincare products for my kids...And I would use the things that people sent me just assuming these are baby products and that they should be safe. I remember learning from my mom friends that these were not healthy at all."

Kourtney Kardashian just collaborated with her sister Kylie Jenner, to launch the Kourt x Kylie collection for Kylie Cosmetics.
