Umi Shave Club launched in June 2018. The company was founded by Matt Green, an entrepreneur from Tampa, Florida, who has developed all-natural shaving products available through a monthly subscription.
Green was inspired to create natural products after losing his sister Julia to cancer in 2010.
Umi Shave's Prepare Pre-Shave Cleanser, Repair Post-Shave Healer, and Shave Foamless Shaving Gel are formulated with all-natural ingredients that are 88% certified organic, paraben-free, and not tested on animals. Each Umi Perfect Shaving Kit includes a pre-shave cleanser, a foamless shave gel, a healing moisturizer, and the subscriber's choice of premium 4-blade or six-blade disposable razors.
"Consumers are unaware of the dangers in everyday skincare products," Green says. "When we shave, we remove protective layers of the skin. That gives unhealthy ingredients a direct line to our bloodstream."
Educating consumers and lessening exposure to potentially harmful ingredients, such as propylene glycol, are primary goals for the brand. Another important goal is to support women's health beyond skincare. Green has pledged to give back 10% of Umi Shave Club's net proceeds to Breast Cancer Research and other causes that focus on women's health.
Green adds, "I feel Julia is encouraging me to make a difference. I think she would be proud of what I'm doing with this brand."
Green also owns a men's line called BladeButter Brand.
