Schwan Cosmetics has joined the Sustainable Packaging Initiative for Cosmetics (SPICE) as a corporate member. The initiative was co-founded in May 2018 by L’Oréal, the world’s leading beauty company and Quantis, a leading environmental sustainability consulting firm. SPICE members have joined together to work towards a common goal: to collectively shape the future of sustainable packaging.
The Sustainable Packaging Initiative for CosmEtics -SPICE- members join together to collectively guide sustainable packaging policies, drive packaging innovation, and meet consumers' expectations on understanding the environmental performance of products.
By participating in this initiative, Schwan Cosmetics confirms its commitment to sustainable development.
“Joining the SPICE Initiative is a logical step in our path to sustainable innovation.” explains Dagmar Chlosta, chief market officer, Schwan Cosmetics. “As a beauty manufacturer, we want to provide consumers with eco-friendly products and packaging that are in line with their beliefs in a sustainable planet. This is why we invest heavily in sustainable innovation on the packaging side. Being part of SPICE gives us the perfect opportunity to shape the future of the beauty industry hand in hand with other cosmetics brands and suppliers and to influence product impact on the environment in a positive way.”
Based on the experience gained from SPICE, the company will work on developing sustainable packaging policies as well as packaging innovations. Schwan Cosmetics says they are “determined to define the future of color cosmetics from a sustainable innovation point of view combining great product performance and design with a sustainable value chain.”
