Viktor & Rolf is launching a new fragrance tomorrow -- Spicebomb Night Vision.
Singer-songwriter Jacob Whitesides is the face of the campaign. The 21-year-old edgy musician is described as having "no filter" during his daily interaction with his close to 6 million social followers. He is preparing to release new music early this year.
Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren state, "With our new fragrance for men, we want to showcase the power of scent and continue to play with opposites, which is so innate to our DNA. Jacob's raw appeal and energy as well as his sensual, yet mysterious, masculinity, made him a natural match for us."
Guillaume de Lesquen, international general manager, Designer Brand Fragrances, adds, "Jacob is a born-digital influential, redefining how artists share with their audience. His magnetism and modernity make him the perfect fit to embody the sensual, edgy and spicy masculinity of this new fragrance."
The Fragrance
Spicebomb Night Vision by Viktor & Rolf is fragrance for men, with an oriental-fougere composition created by Firmenich perfumers Nathalie Lorson and Pierre Negrin.
It includes top notes of green cardamom, green mandarin, grapefruit, and Granny Smith apple. The heart notes are black chili, black pepper, clove, nutmeg, sage, and geranium. The base notes are roasted almonds, tonka bean absolute, and woody notes.
A Decoration on Glass Inspired by 'Night Vision'
Viktor & Rolf is using its iconic bottle that resembles a hand grenade -- the same design that first made its debut in 2012 for the original Spicebomb, and used for all the men's fragrances that followed.
For the new fragrance, which is the fourth in the Spicebomb lineup, the bottle is tinted emerald green. The color represents 'night vision,' and the top two-thirds of the bottle is opaque black.
Horsting and Snoeren describe the bottle design and decoration to WWD, stating, "Drawing inspiration from night vision technology, we reinterpreted our distinct grenade Spicebomb bottle in an emerald green tint of optical technology that merges into the black-colored glass.”
