Michelle Pfeiffer has a fragrance brand, Henry Rose, and it launches today. The brand is named after her children's middle names, Henry and Rose.
The actress isn't just the face of the brand -- she was personally involved in developing it. Several reports state that she made the decision to create her own brand, instead of developing a fragrance with a cosmetic company, because no one would agree to disclose all their ingredients.
Henry Rose is EWG Verified and Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold -- and every ingredient has been rigorously vetted against the strictest standards for health and safety, the brand states.
Pfeiffer explains more about why she set out to create a fragrance line in the video below, posted on the brand's Instagram, HenryRose.
She says in the video, "I wanted to develop something that I could offer the consumer that was safer than anything that was on the market -- 100% transparent in its ingredients, but that could absolutely compete with all of the other fine fragrances in the marketplace."
Pfeiffer continues, "It was frustrating at times, really exciting at times, and incredibly rewarding." She ends the video stating, "You don't have to sacrifice quality for safety."
The Collection
The Eau de Parfum collection, sold on the brand's website, includes five unisex scents: Last Night, Torn, Dark is Night, Fog, and Jake's House.
Pfeiffer personally formulated and named Torn, which includes patchouli, vetiver, and vanilla bean. Jake's House was inspired by her grandparent's home, and the smell of their bathroom, in South Dakota. It includes calone, citrusy hedione, and white neroli. (Her grandfather's name is Jake.)
The Bottles
The transparent, 50ml glass bottles have an elegant, modern look. The design features a heavyweight base and rounded shoulders that have a beautiful curve. The round caps taper at the neck.
The bottles are made with NEO-Infinite glass, Refinery29 reports, and are 90% recycled and 100% recyclable. The caps are made from soy.
NEO-Infinite glass is by Verescence, which the company displayed at Luxe Pack Monaco last year.
