MartiDerm, a Barcelona-based skincare company, is entering the United States this year with its Smart Aging dermatological products.
Montse Martí, CEO and part of the second generation to oversee the company, says, "We are excited about bringing our skincare products to the United States. The quality of our products and their visible results are our best presentation. Our R&D department works daily to continue creating new formulas to improve skin condition."
MartiDerm will introduce several of their skincare products to America, including:
- MartiDerm Photo Age Ampoule -- an intensive treatment that moisturizes and firms the skin, while helping to prevent photo-aging caused by sun damage.
- MartiDerm Skin Complex+ Ampoule -- a long-lasting intensive antioxidant product that contains a combination of its patented Proteum 89+ formula, which includes a Vitamin Complex with vitamins C, F, E, A and B5. Skin Complex+ penetrates the innermost layers of the skin to improve elasticity and suppleness.
MartiDerm's Anti-Aging Formula
MartiDerm's U.S. launch includes products that contain the company's patented Proteum 89+ formula. The company's R&D team developed Proteum 89+ -- a third-generation anti-wrinkle Proteoglycan, which quickly restores skin firmness and elasticity.
Proteum 89+ also plays an important role as a smart ingredient and biological antioxidant filter. MartiDerm uses pure Vitamin C because of its antioxidant properties, the company says, and its role in collagen synthesis. "This makes Vitamin C a very important molecule for skin health," the company states.
MartiDerm's Founder Uses First Ampoules for Cosmetics in 1989
MartiDerm's history began with a pharmacy in Barcelona, opened in 1952 by chemist Josep Marti Tor. The pharmacy specialized in the development of personalized dermatological formulations under medical prescription.
In 1989, Marti created an innovative and revolutionary anti-aging skincare formula, made by combining Proteoglycans and pure Vitamin C.
To package the innovative product, Marti used -- for the first time -- the ampoule format for a cosmetic. Prior, ampoules were only used for medical products.
Montse Martí explains, "Josep Martí Tor developed skincare products that are perfect for daily care. He used a combination of proteoglycans and pure Vitamin C for regenerating skin and reverting the harmful effects of sun rays and everyday pollution. He chose the ampoule format in order to protect the formula from light and oxidation."
The company states, "This formula has proven efficacy repairing and regenerating the skin. The ampoule is the only format which protects pure Vitamin C from light and air, guaranteeing its maximum efficacy."
Years later, the second generation of the family developed the MartiDerm brand. In 1997, the family built the MartiDerm Laboratory in a small town close to the pharmacy -- and eventually moved to much larger facilities outside Barcelona to meet the growing demand for its skincare products.
The ampoules are still the product that best exemplifies the brand’s success. Today, the brand sells 180,000 ampoules in their topaz glass format around the world.
