Sustainability was the common theme shared by many of the stories from last week, which makes sense as we move towards Earth Day later this month.
First, The Estée Lauder Companies and specialty materials provider Eastman signed a global memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will enable ELC to take significant strides towards its 2025 sustainable packaging goals.
Through the agreement, ELC and its portfolio of brands will begin incorporating packaging solutions enabled by Eastman’s molecular recycling technologies and portfolio of Renew resins with up to 100% certified recycled content.
In other news, The Body Shop is expanding its refill and recycling scheme worldwide, starting with refill stations in 47 stores in France and eventually expanding to 400 stations worldwide by the end of the year. The brand plans to have all of its stores equipped within the next five years.
Finally, L’Oréal Hong Kong kicked off a cross-brand recycling program with its 13 beauty brands. This month, Kiehl’s, Lancôme and L’Oréal Paris will be taking the lead in accepting used product containers at their stores.
