Knoll Printing & Packaging has endorsed the Sustainable Ocean Principles of the United Nations Global Compact and joined the Action Platform for Sustainable Ocean Business.
These principles are a framework for responsible business practices in the Ocean across sectors and geographies. With this announcement, Knoll Printing & Packaging joins business leaders from around the world in setting clear and shared expectations industry-wide for a healthy and productive ocean.
Jeremy Cohen, president & CEO of Knoll Packaging said, “We are thrilled to continue our participation with the United Nations Global Compact by joining the Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform. At least eight million tons of plastics end up in the ocean each year, and Knoll is prepared to continue doing its part to reduce our environmental impact.”
Cohen continued, “It is particularly meaningful to announce our participation on Earth Day, which for Knoll is a call to action and reminder of our social responsibility and to be responsible citizens every day.”
As a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General, the United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals.
The UN Global Compact Action Platform for Sustainable Ocean Business is taking a comprehensive view of the role of the ocean in achieving the 17 Global Goals. The aim is to explore attractive, viable solutions and best practices for sustainable use and management of the ocean.
Knoll Packaging is also part of the Decent Work in Global Supply Chain Action Platform and has been named a United Nations Global Compact LEAD company two years in a row for its commitment to sustainability.
