Japan has joined the sanctions against Russian oligarchs and the ruling class by banning luxury exports to the country.
The banned items on the export control list, which took effect on April 5, span 19 categories, including cosmetics, watches, liquor, cars, boat engines and grand pianos.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also announced plans to revoke Russia's most-favored nation trading status, which could lead to higher tariffs on its imports, as well as a ban on certain imports from Russia.
