French luxury brand Chanel has appointed Stephane Blanchard as the new President of the U.S. region and Chanel Inc., effective September 1.
Blanchard will succeed John Galantic, who, as reported on Monday, opted to retire from the company after a 16-year stint to explore external career prospects. Blanchard, who will report to Chanel's Global CEO Leena Nair, will join the company's global leadership team.
Blanchard is currently the Managing Director of Chanel Korea, where he has served since 2016. Chanel states that under his leadership, Blanchard has implemented transformative strategies for talent development, culture, client engagement, retail agility, and sustainability, resulting in significant business growth. He has also been instrumental in driving digital and data transformation across the Asia-Pacific region.
A Chanel spokesperson praised Blanchard for his multicultural and versatile leadership style, having built an excellent reputation for himself over his 30-year tenure with the brand. Prior to his current role, Blanchard served as the Managing Director of Chanel Russia & C.I.S., as well as Chanel Germany.
Blanchard's successor at Chanel Korea is yet to be named.
