John Demsey, former executive group president at The Estée Lauder Companies, is now the senior advisor of private equity firm L Catterton.
Select board service includes Chairman of the MAC Viva Glam Fund and director roles at Jones New York, Baccarat, The Apollo Theater, and the Marymount School of New York.
He was made to leave The Estée Lauder Companies last year after he shared a meme on Instagram, which contained a racial slur and jokes about Covid-19. He has since apologized for the post.
Demsey’s non-compete provision would last through March 2024, per the Estée Lauder Companies’ annual report. While details of the deal are unclear, Demsey’s transition to L Catterton was reportedly approved by Estée Lauder.
