The New Jersey Packaging Executives Club (NJPEC) held its 42nd Annual Package of the Year (POY) Awards Gala, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ.
The annual event recognizes the year’s best packaging designs and innovations, and this year’s program saw an impressive number of submissions.
The highest NJPEC honor for 2022, Package of the Year, was presented to Christian Louboutin’s Loubiworld Fragrance Cap/Collar, produced by TNT Global Manufacturing Inc.
The Students’ Choice Award went to BUBBSI – HAIR Conditioner and Refill Set for The Caldrea Company, by France Lab Inc.
An Elite Panel of Judges
An elite panel of judges of top packaging executives from a broad spectrum of industries and brands as well as packaging students selected the winners in 10 different categories.Judges included: Remon Zakhary, Bayer; Peter Gould, Sunbelt Graphics; Derek Schmidt, LGH&H Americas/The Avon Company; Anthony Garaguso, Kelly Services, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health; Gina Rokose, Creative Services at Aquent Studios for Colgate-Palmolive; Jill Hilton, Estée Lauder, Jay Gorga, publisher, Beauty Packaging Magazine; and Brian Henry, Revlon. Student judges were Rutgers Packaging students Lauryn Zygmaniak and Golora Hatefi; John Desierto with Rutgers Packaging and Batallure Beauty; and Derek Schmidt, Jr. with Rutgers Packaging, J&J Pack, Co-Op.

Awards Wrap-Up
“All the judges were impressed with the wide range of packaging ingenuity and brand impact displayed in this year’s competition. It was great to bring the entire industry together at our awards gala and celebrate this year’s incredible achievements in packaging, design and engineering,” says NJPEC president, Jesse Fischbein.“Because of the generosity of our members, guests and sponsors, the gala also was a successful fundraiser for the numerous student scholarships that NJPEC bestows.”
