Membership has its privileges and CEW members will take full advantage of their voting benefits at the annual Cosmetic Executive Women’s Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards Product Demo—the place where more than 2,000 CEW member executives review the prior year’s beauty launches. This year, more than 750 products from more than 300 beauty brands entered for the chance to be a Beauty Awards winner.

The show, to be held March 11 at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, New York, NY) will expand to include the adjacent Altman Building to feature products within 34 different categories, from which more than 200 finalists will be selected and announced in April. Members will roam aisles and aisles of tabletop product demos, judging items based on innovation, delivery system and packaging. The finalists will be voted on by CEW’s Board of Governors and select industry experts to determine the winners, which will be announced May 15 at the 2015 CEW Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria New York. Ballots for both the finalists and winners are cast electronically and tabulated by Ernst & Young LLP. The presenting sponsor for the 2015 Beauty Awards is Meredith Corporation.
This year’s Demo will feature several special elements, including enhanced media and consumer engagement, the addition of Hair Tools as a category and a “major focus” on fragrance. This year’s Most Buzzed About Award will also be enhanced, recognizing both a mass and prestige brand that drove online buzz as a result of a successful digital strategy. As in past years, a Best Seller Award will be given within the mass and prestige channels of distribution; the Iconic Award will recognize a trendsetting product in mass and prestige that has created a new category of product; the Eco Beauty Award, sponsored by Givaudan, will recognize a brand for their sustainability efforts; and the Indie Beauty Brand Award will acknowledge an indie beauty company. Once again, CEW and QVC are partnering for QVC Beauty Quest, in which the TV retailer will select one brand to be featured on QVC in a CEW Beauty Awards Show this summer.
The CEW Beauty Insider Lounge will return, featuring a Trends List taking into consideration all of the Demo’s exhibitors. It’s also where weary attendees can recharge both their feet and their cell phones with computer access and complimentary refreshments.
Carlotta Jacobson, president of CEW, says, “This year the beauty awards demonstration will have more products, more space and new categories.”
