Later this year, e’quipe, Ltd., subsidiary of Kanebo, will become Japan’s first cosmetics company to introduce the digital mirror from MemoMi Labs Inc. of Silicon Valley, CA. Customers of SUQQU brand cosmetics will have the chance to experience the digital mirror when receiving a SUQQU Gankin massage at select stores.
A digital image recorder built within the MemoMi mirror records a hands-on Gankin (facial muscle) massage session by a trained skincare expert at the SUQQU counter and forwards the video to the customer’s smartphone. The customer can share the video on SNS and review it at home to master the facial massage technique. The massage ends with details on makeup products to be used and the techniques for using them. According to the brand, the facial massages at SUQQU counters are especially popular with overseas tourists visiting Japan, and adds that with this customer segment, the spread and share-ability of the massage sessions is likely to boost the profile of SUQQU outside of Japan.
