It's already planned! The Italian company specialized in the creation and production of makeup formulas, will be doubling its production area by the end of 2019. With a staff of 70 people and € 12 million in sales, Pharmacos, located in Caravaggio near Milan, and headed by Franco Giuliani, is part of this incubator of Italian companies that benefit from the enormous development of the global makeup market.
Overview with Franco Giuliani, CEO, Pharmacos.
Jean-Yves Bourgeois: You are a young company…how have you evolved?
Franco Giuliani: Today Pharmacos is specialized in the creation, development and production of color cosmetics: powders, lipsticks, lip gloss, colored emulsions (foundation, mascara, eye liner), poured, baked and hybrid products. But at the very beginning, in 2004, the year the company was created, our investments were solely focused on the development and creation of powders.
The steady growth of the market led Pharmacos in 2011 to make significant new investments by expanding its product portfolio to all makeup categories creating a new R&D department dedicated to emulsions and anhydrous products. In 2014, the company grew further with the creation of three new R&D laboratories and two new production departments.
Our main missions: to be a customer-oriented company, by offering innovative and winning solutions, with rapid and efficient service; to propose a complete range of makeup products, backed by our competitive strength in offering innovative and high-quality products. In addition, through the years we have consolidated our experience and know-how in the different production processes of special products, such as beads, meteorites, cassata, embossing, debossing and hybrid products.
The company's key assets are its high flexibility either for time to market or minimum quantity offers, to satisfy market demands that change at a staggering pace.
Bourgeois: Your efforts abroad are starting to pay off.
Giuliani: That's right. Our key markets are in Europe, especially Northern Europe, but we are working more and more with Asia and we are starting to make inroads in the U.S. market. The "Made in Italy" signature is another great asset, and our reputation for quality has crossed the borders. Especially since the quality of our products is ensured by constant tests on raw materials used for the advanced plants and production processes, also thanks to the applied technologies and the in-house monitoring systems, all guaranteed following ISO 9001, ISO 22716 for the GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SA 8000 standards.
Bourgeois: You are about to double your production?
Giuliani: Yes, because our goal is constant innovation, both in formulation and technology, over the years we have been investing in human and technical resources. A further expansion is planned for 2019, with the construction of a new building to increase production capacity, diversify and improve our services.
