Beauty Packaging: What are some of Baralan’s core guiding values?
Maurizio Ficcadenti: Our global presence and identity have always been oriented on assuring quality, excellence and innovation worldwide. We strive for perfection in everything we do, constantly infusing passion and creativity to create added value and be a point of reference for our clients. Our work is based on passion and innovation, on our unique strengths and skills, on the quality of our people, and in recognizing that diversity across all aspects of our operation and organization is something to be cherished. The human factor is the most important component: This is why the group invests continuously to build and improve our team with know-how and expertise.
BP: What attributes help Baralan continue to meet the needs of the beauty industry?
MF: Baralan has an innovative approach to recognizing and anticipating market needs and guaranteeing quality and trustworthiness. Our internal R&D and quality control departments support clients worldwide and we create relationships with our clients where they can feel inspired, motivated and involved with our team spirit. For us, it’s important to innovate—and we do it by proposing increasingly sustainable solutions—but at the same time it’s equally important to guarantee a partnership to our clients and the functionality of the final product.
BP: How is Baralan positioned to support the needs of beauty brands both big and small?
MF: Baralan, with headquarters in Italy, the U.S. and China, is recognized worldwide for creating, engineering and customizing full packaging solutions and all these services are managed within Baralan Group. For example, LaborPlast, our plastic injection unit, is equipped with state-of-the-art injection molding and robotic technologies to supply the majority of our plastic components. We also have finishing units specialized in decorations. Our slogan is “cosmetic packaging solutions” because we are focused on offering the best complete solutions to our clients supporting them from a product’s concept to personalization, thanks to an organized group with a strong value chain.
BP: Tell us about your launch of your sustainable ECOBARALAN line last June.
MF: ECOBARALAN is a line of bioplastic items produced with a biopolymer made with a combination of natural fibers and waste that combines the processing capabilities of thermoplastic materials with renewable resources and natural materials. It can be used with existing Baralan molds and has flexible applicability in manufacturing. We use it to produce standard injection molded sticks, jars and compacts, overcaps/overpumps and screw caps at LaborPlast. ECOBARALAN is our sustainable packaging evolution to meet the growing market request of sustainable products with the scope to propose a sustainable complete life cycle.
BP: What lies ahead for Baralan?
MF: Our daily challenge is to achieve results by presenting a range of high-quality products, capable of anticipating and satisfying consumer needs with adequate attention to environmental and social issues. We continue to sustainably innovate in the area of cosmetic packaging. It’s important to balance relevance and credibility, innovate sustainably while guaranteeing quality and functionality. We will continue working in the growing skincare sector and maintain a consistency in the three market axes we focus on: skincare, fragrance and makeup.
