Smashbox chose to expand its iconic lipstick collection with a new “Perfect Red” to make a statement regarding social impact. The Be Seen Be Legendary Lipstick ($24) was created by Smashbox Women of Color for People of Color at the Estée Lauder Companies.
Ideated in the Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles, global pro lead artist, Lori Taylor Davis; executive director of R&D lip product innovation & chemist, Stella Niinoi; and director of global product development, Kia Ragland, “took the cult-favorite Be Legendary Prime & Plush Lipstick and introduced it to a new shade of red named Be Seen – developed and carefully curated “for us, by us,” further cementing equity and diversity as core values for both Smashbox and The Estée Lauder Companies.”
Ragland notes: “As a multicultural woman, I’m here to break barriers. I’m committed to creating products for anyone and everyone, and redefining the beauty standard. It’s not just part of my job, it’s part of my purpose.”
