Firmenich has named Dr. Bérangère Magarinos-Ruchat as global head of sustainability. In this new capacity, she will reinforce Firmenich’s leadership in sustainability.
“I deeply believe that business is a force for good and a catalyst for social progress,” said Gilbert Ghostine, CEO Firmenich. “With Bérangère’s expertise and passion for sustainability, I look forward to taking our legacy of responsible business to the next level for the benefit of both present and future generations.”
Dr. Magarinos-Ruchat most recently served as VP sustainability partnerships at the company, a position that she held since 2010. She has established numerous strategic collaborations for Firmenich to address key societal challenges such as, Hygiene & Sanitation, Health & Nutrition and Biodiversity. To scale up Firmenich’s impact, she built unique partnerships with like-minded organizations such as The Toilet Board Coalition, Livelihoods Funds, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Forum for the Future, UN Global Compact and many others.
Most recently, at this year’s World Water Week in Stockholm, she was elected vice chairman of the Toilet Board Coalition to address today’s global sanitation crisis through sustainable business solutions. Under her visionary leadership, Firmenich, a founding member of the Toilet Board Coalition, is committed to being part of shaping a new sanitation economy.
Furthermore, this year, Dr. Magarinos-Ruchat was recognized by the WBCSD’s Leading Women Awards for her leadership in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Also in 2015, she was named Head of Sustainability of the Year by Ethical Corporation.
