Berlin is a progressive city that nurtures the soul of the curious and fulfills one’s appetite for beautifully designed objects and architecture. Berlin is one of Europe's epicenters where history, modern culture, art and an edgy underground scene converge.
The locals desire a deep connection with their lifestyle placing much emphasis on living well, enjoying food, experiencing entertainment and wellness, resulting in an excitement to express their visual voice through a beauty routine.
Like food, art, culture, and music, beauty fits within the universe of a carefully curated lifestyle.
Berlin is affordable while still offering so much to discover—it’s gritty and artistic while boasting some incredibly beautiful retail spaces. This city creates an insatiable desire for the creative, lending itself as the perfect backdrop for our debut Indie Beauty Expo Berlin event March 22-23.
The brands at IBE Berlin will not only excite esthetically, but many are mission driven, sustainable, conscious and contribute to the movement of disrupting the beauty industry.
These four standouts prove being clean or sustainable doesn't have to equal boring, unappealing packaging. See them in the slider above.
Gitti
gitti is a new, patented water-based, vegan nail color. (Photo in the slider above via Instagram @gittiberlin). It’s based on 55% water and does not contain 17 of the nastiest chemicals that, unfortunately, traditional nail polish still contains—and which are linked to cancer, hormonal imbalances and reproductive problems.
The design and packaging are simple and modern—reflective of the pure, safe ingredients found inside the bottle.
I Want You Naked
The natural bath, body and cosmetics brand from Munich -- I Want You Naked -- stands for the luxury of giving up unnecessary ballast and concentrating on what really does us good. Made without parabens, silicones, or other synthetic additives, they use the cleansing and nourishing effect of herbal ingredients, high-quality salts, minerals, oils and flavors.
The natural ingredients are mirrored with the use of bamboo lids while the glass cylinders allow the ingredients to show through. (See the photo in the slider above.)
Polaar
Polaar’s emphasis on giving back to nature is highlighted in many ways through their packaging. They see life in “green” by reducing the size of their packaging, which is made from recyclable materials, and ensure their cases are made from 100% paper from sustainably managed forests.
Their formulas are 95% biodegradable. (The Polaar Night Dream Gift Set is shown in the slider above.)
Nooii
Swiss brand Nooii uses only glass or aluminum containers to hold their skincare products.
Instead of plastic, they use labels made from rock-powder (a very new development), in order to go easy on our forests and other natural resources. If the bottle is thrown away, the label will dissolve after being exposed to sunlight. (See Nooii's bath & body collection shown in the slider above.)
